Fenway Park “Open House” on April 25 Welcomes All Fans to Free, Day-Long Event Presented by Nexium® 24HR

Florida A&M University will Play North Carolina Central at 2 p.m. in Fenway Park’s First-ever Historically Black College Baseball Showcase

Boston, MA – To help ensure as many fans as possible have an opportunity to enjoy Fenway Park during April school vacation week, the Red Sox will host a free, day-long Open House on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Open House, presented by Nexium® 24HR, will feature college baseball between two Historically Black Colleges, Florida A&M University and North Carolina Central University, starting at 2 p.m.

Fans will have a chance to walk around the park at their own pace, discover behind-the-scenes locations, and learn more about the 103-year-old ballpark’s history by following the “Fenway Park: A Living Museum” plaques, displays, and historical markers.

“The Open House is a tremendous opportunity for families to experience the magic of Fenway up close, and enjoy what will be an exciting game as we welcome Florida A&M and North Carolina Central University to Boston,” said Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh. “I thank the Red Sox for creating this exciting opportunity for Boston’s residents and visitors.”

“Our Open House in 2012 was popular with families during School Vacation Week, and we wanted to bring back this free event in which moms, dads, and kids can explore the ballpark at their leisure,” said Red Sox President/CEO Larry Lucchino. “An Historically Black College Baseball Showcase is a first for Fenway Park, and we are most pleased to welcome the baseball teams of Florida A&M and North Carolina Central.

“Mayor Martin J. Walsh was instrumental in allowing both the Open House and the college game, and we thank him for helping us create an event that attracts fans from all over Boston – and beyond.”

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., fans will also have an opportunity to walk on the warning track, sit in the dugouts, peer into the bullpens, and peek inside the Green Monster scoreboard (weather permitting). Fans can meet and receive autographs from Red Sox alumni throughout the day.

A college fair of historically black colleges will be set up in the State Street Pavilion Club before the game.

All Fenway Park gates and concession stands will be open.
