Elevate Helps U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Kai Owens Tell Her Adoption Story
As part of Elevate’s work with U.S. Ski & Snowboard, the Olympic national governing body of skiing and snowboarding sports, Elevate worked with moguls skier Kai Owens to tell her captivating story leading up to the Olympics.
While Kai was raised in the ski town of Vail, Colorado, she was adopted from China as a baby as part of the country’s one-child law. As Kai and her family realized that she would likely make the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, China, they decided they wanted to tell her adoption story and celebrate her first return to her home country in her memory.
Elevate worked with 17-year-old Kai and her family to craft her story and conduct a few media training sessions with Kai before she sat down with the Associated Press for an exclusive story, followed by a live interview on Good Morning America.
From there, Elevate organized a slate of additional media opportunities and worked hand-in-hand with U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s communication team to continue to amplify Kai nationally and internationally as she made the Olympic team and competed at the Olympic Games in China, eventually making the moguls final and finishing 10th.
Kai speaks live on Good Morning America about her returning to her home country for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
