NWHL’s Boston Pride Announces 2021-22 Team
In August, the Boston Pride, Boston’s National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL) team, worked with Elevat to create a larger splash for their team announcement after winning the Isobel Cup for the second time in the 2020-21 season. Goals included building excitement for the 2021-22 season with Boston area sports fans, driving awareness of the Pride as a top-tier professional sports team in Boston and supporting ticket sales for the upcoming season, so we put on our event planning and media relations hats and got to work.
Elevate put together a plan with the Pride, which included hosting an event at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts, where the Pride’s president, general manager and head coach could announce the team while showcasing the Isobel Cup in front of media and sponsors. Girls youth hockey players from the South Shore Eagles, Bay State Breakers, Breeze Selects and North Reading/Stoneham were also on-hand to help introduce the players and after the event, there was a street hockey game where the girls scrimmaged with the Pride’s pro women hockey players.
Elevate produced the logistics, including a full event run of show and photo/video shot list, and had two Elevate staff members on site. We also created a media list and media advisory to bring press to the event, along with a full press release to go out after the event to secure additional coverage from those that were unable to make the event. Additionally, we did hyperlocal outreach to the local hometowns of the Pride players and youth hockey players that attended the event.
