The event will be held on Saturday, February 8 at Boston’s legendary Paradise Rock Club.
Chicago Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein and Baseball Hall of Fame journalist Peter Gammons will be among the musicians performing at the event, which is presented by GIVING GROUSBECK FAZZALARI, TraceLink and Mintz Levin. Proceeds from the event benefit Theo and Paul Epstein’s Foundation To Be Named Later. The evening will also include performances by Actor/comedian/writer/producer Mike O’Malley, former Red Sox great Kevin Youkilis and NESN’s Tom Caron as masters of ceremony. Tickets are on sale now on ticketmaster.com. General admission tickets are $50. VIP tickets also are available for $500, and include a pre-show reception with early entrance and complimentary food and beverages and can be found at www.ftbnl.org.
“It is incredible that we are celebrating our 20th anniversary of Hot Stove Cool Music,” Gammons said. “Throughout the years, thanks to the musicians, fans, and sponsors we have been able to make a significant difference to the youth and families in underserved communities in Boston and Chicago, which makes this event so special year after year. Jeff Horrigan and I could not have dreamed up the amazing impact we have been able to have when starting the event in 2000.”
Performers that evening include Bill Janovitz (Buffalo Tom) and Mike Gent (The Figgs) – curators of the Rolling Stones Revue, Ted Leo, Will Dailey, Duke Levine (J. Geils Band/Peter Wolf), former New York Yankee legend Bernie Williams, former Red Sox Jake Peavy and Lenny DiNardo, Chris Cote (The Upper Crust), Ty Taylor (Vintage Trouble), Sadie Dupuis (Speedy Ortiz), legendary New York singer Genya Ravan, Cliff Notez, and local supergroup Band of Their Own featuring Kay Hanley, Donelly and Greenwood (Belly), Jenny Dee (Jenny Dee & The Delinquents), Jen Trynin, Magen Tracy, Hilken Mancini (Fuzzy) and special guest Cherie Currie of The Runaways.
The evening will also feature a number of special guests and surprises, as well as a live and silent auction, featuring signed sports memorabilia and priceless entertainment experiences.
Hot Stove musicians are taking their talents into the community ahead of the concert, where performers Dailey, Donelly, Janovitz, Dee, and Mancini will host a songwriting workshop with kids from three of the foundations beneficiaries: Zumix, West End House and Girls Rock Campaign Boston. The team will compose an original song that will be performed at the concert.
“Back in 2000, when we started Hot Stove Cool Music, our goal was to combine our love of music and baseball to, hopefully, do a little good,” said co-founder Jeff Horrigan. “Over the span of two full decades, it has evolved into something far bigger and better than any of us could’ve ever imagined. Thanks to the contributions of so many talented and selfless people, HSCM and the FTBNL have done a lot of good for a lot of people in Boston and Chicago. It’s been gratifying and humbling to know that we’ve made a difference.”
The concert is part of a weekend of events that kick off on February 7, with the Business of Baseball Lunch, a roundtable discussion featuring a panel of baseball luminaries including Peter Gammons, Alex Speier, Tom Verducci, Rich Hill, Aaron Civale, Craig Breslow, Ryan Dempster, David Bush and Matt Blake. Tickets for the Business of Baseball Lunch are $300 and are on sale now at www.ftbnl.org.
