Tess Gerritsen: Amplifying Success Beyond Rizzoli & Isles with The Shape of Night
CHALLENGE
As the agency of record for internationally acclaimed bestselling author Tess Gerritsen for more than a decade, we helped elevate awareness and drive sales for more than eight best-selling titles. After becoming widely known for her Rizzoli & Isles book series, Tess released The Shape of Night in October of 2019. This stand-alone novel allowed for the unique opportunity to highlight Gerritsen’s writing and characters outside of the well-known series.
SOLUTION
We developed a multi-pronged brand communication, social media, and public relations campaign that with a suite of media relations, social PR, and cause-related initiatives designed to build awareness, heighten anticipation, and seed demand for each title. As part of each launch, we developed a customized content strategy, created all content to support our integrated campaigns, and managed publishing across all of Tess’ owned marketing channels including website, social media, and fan newsletters. We also were tasked with identifying book clubs to share and distribute the discussion guide to encourage further book sales.
IMPACT
Our multi-pronged brand communications, social media, and public relations campaign generated extensive media coverage, including high impact book reviews, broadcast and podcast interviews, author Q&As and feature story placements that maximized pre-orders and book sales in the UK & US.
